What is KucherovÂ’s value in Keep 5

My team and league is in the signature below. Note: I am in 4th place and wanting to make a push towards the top.

I kept Kucherov as one of my 5 keepers pre-draft. With the thought, if I use him to trade to strengthen my squad towards a title or have him for a Keeper next season.

Now I think is my best timing to trade for assets this year. As 2 of the 3 bottom teams have interest in Kuch.

I am thinking of offering the following:

Team A gets - Kuch, Benn and 4th Rd pick
I get - B.Tkachuk, B.Horvat and 6th Rd pick

Or

Team B gets - Kuch, Benn, Shesterkin and 4th pick
I get - Marchand, PL Dubois, Hellebuyck and 6th Rd pick

Not sure either guy accepts...But also would love to Keep Kuch with Marner, Svech, Connor (or Lindholm) and Markstrom as my 5 going into next seasonÂ’s draft.

Thoughts of what I should be looking for in Kuch?

First off... of those 2 trade ideas, the second one is my clear favorite. You get 2 keepers out of it with Marchand and Hellebuyck, where in the first one, I don't see Horvat as a keeper.

But that is just based off what you asked about the 2 trade ideas. One question I have is do you need to keep a goalie? As I don't feel like Markstrom should be a for sure keeper. The only 2 goalies I see that should be considered a keeper in a keep-5 league is Vasilevskiy and Hellebuyck.

Marner, Svechnikov, Connor, Kucherov are for sure 4 of your 5 if you decide to keep Kuch. I would almost make a case for Ekblad to be a keeper, as he is starting to show his potential now that he is out from behind Yandles shadow.

If you do need to keep a goalie, then the second trade is by far the better one, as Hellebuyck is a clear keeper in net, and Marchand gives you your clear 5th keeper.

My opinion though, keep Kuch... he is a top 5 player when he is going, and in a keep-5, that is VERY hard to make-up. In making a push to win it all this year though, the 2nd trade is my preference, though even then, the buyer should be giving up the lower draft pick to get Kuch... not you.

I like the second trade for you if you are going for the championship.

Marchand might not be a keeper in a keep 5 for many more years.. but he is right now and next year.

So make the move... win this year.

Then trade Marchand this off season to someone.

Hellebuyck, Marchand
Barkov, maybe Landeskog

First off, Markstrom isn't a keeper quality guy, unless forced to keep a goalie. If that's the case, get Hellebuyck.

Otherwise, pick whichever you like.

Doesn’t look like trade B will fly...he wants Marner and 1st to be added to Kuch and Shesterkin.

I have to keep in mind stats improved this year...from the throw-away guys (Benn and Kadri) with getting Barkov and Landeskog. Is it worth dealing Kuch’s next 2-3 years of Stud value.

Well the guy in 2nd last place started selling hard for 1st Rd picks...with my competitors in 1st and 2nd place.

First ball to drop:
seller gives - Barzal, Gaudreau, 16th Rd pick
1st place gives - Atkinson, Schmaltz and 1st Rd pick

Second ball to drop:
seller gives - Couturier, Wheeler, Mrazek, 8th Rd & 10th Rd picks
2nd places gives - Garland, Ekholm, Quick, 1st Rd & 3rd Rd picks

Then I pulled the trigger on:

I (3rd place) give - Kucherov, Benn, Bjorkstrand, D.Toews, Rittich, 1st Rd pick

Quite a whirlwind of trades from one team (seller) in about 1 hour.

Note: I wasn’t sure I could get trigger pulled on the Negotiation for Marchand and Helly.

Now to see if there are more trades to come and how the chips may fall. Lol

I'm amazed people assume kucherov will still be elite.

Hip surgeries are monster career nerfers. He will never reach the levels he already did again. He might be lucky to reach 80% of his previous level again.

Jamie Benn was a scoring title guy who then had hip surgery , then 1 ok season and fell off a cliff.

Kesler was a multicat keeper before his hip surgery and now he needs another one.

You can't assume he won't be either. He's still elite, until he's not and he should be treated as such. I do completely get the whole buyer beware though.

Yeah. I mean typically hockey players have their best offensive seasons between the ages of 22 and 26.

Kucherov is going to be 28 or 29 on his return next year and coming off a major surgery known for nerfing careers.
